Festive Cheer.

After my moany, self pity filled posts recently, I've finally started to feel brighter and the festive cheer is working its way into my bones :-)

I traipsed to the shed, through about 2 inches of lovely sticky snow and pulled the bag of decorations off one of the shelves and quickly trotted back in doors.  Rye skipped and clapped excitedly as I unpacked the decorations and he begain to place them on the tree.   He did really well for his first tree decoration attempt, sure the decorations are a little lopsided and there's a section that is a looking a tad bare.  Well perhaps tomorrow we can make some cookies to fill those bare patches :-)

I've put LED lights on the tree this time, which are battery powered.  Not overly keen; but I dont have any spare sockets for the other lights this time.  So I've strung some lights in the lounge window - rather haphazardly, it has to be said.  Ridiculous, just stringing that one set of lights had me puffing a little, sweating and feeling a little trembly.  I am quite amazed how much this ear infection has knocked me on my backside!  On the mend now though, that is the main thing.    The window cill was decorated too with some Yule/chrismassy ornaments and tealights.  So the living room is now looking rather festive indeed - add in the snow and ooooh, it does looks so wonderfully winter solsticey!

Compliments of Spotify, I've also been listening to the rather lovely album called Essential Winter's Solstice.
All I need now is some mulled wine and a mince pie :-)  Alas, no alcohol for me while on the tramadol, and mince pies will have to wait for my Abel and Cole order on Monday, when I receive some more butter.  I do have marg in the house, but I confess when it comes to pastry I'm a bit of a snob and firmly believe it has to be unsalted organic butter!

Ohhh, I know what I can have instead - a cup of nice chai!  And I could rustle up some mincemeat muffins ;-)
Ah yes, the festive spirit is weaving its magic, once again.

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, don't overdo it though, sounds like you're still a bit under the weather, but there's nothing like looking forward to something and having something to plan and prepare for, to make you feel normal again!

Hope you're off the drugs soon and can have a wee dram and enjoy that mincie!! I know exactly what you mean about children decorating the tree, it's funny how all the baubles end up at the front, with about five on each branch and nothing at the back! Cute though. Take care and keep cosy .xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Aye I have Damhs the Bard on my play list, I also have 3 of his cds :-) Love a bit of the Bard :-)

Aye taking it nice and easy, Pippa. Just easy things like crocheting tire me out at the mo. I made a couple of african flower motifs and turned them into anothe decoration for the tree - and afterwards my eyes were drooping.

We are doing a littl tidy up today - but it's five minutes tidy up - ten minutes sit down with a cuppa - lol. A long winded way of tidying up but manageable - and thankfully the place isn't too bad. Just messy moe than anything.
